Millions of customers on the first day
Beijing. China's 3 state-owned wireless companies have launched 5G phone service in 50 cities of the country on Thursday. The price for this service is kept at $ 18 (₹ 1260) per month. It is believed to be a significant milestone towards the country's becoming a technology power, especially when it was closed for a trade war with the US. The country's largest company China Mobile Limited has started the service in 50 big cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. At the same time, rival companies China Telecom Corporation and China Unicom Hong Kong Limited have also started their service with comparative rates.
- The operators had planned to start the network next year. But after the boycott of China's 5G equipment supplier and technology giant Huawei Technologies in the US, these companies soon introduced it in China.
- Operators have started 5G service in parts of some cities without using Huawei's equipment in the US.
- At the same time, South Korea launched its version in April. However, China will quickly become the largest country to use the 5G service due to its large population and investments made by companies.
