Asus' ROG Boost feature pushes more power to a compatible machine's GPU, bumping performance by a small but noticeable amount. In addition to covering this feature, Asus also shared demographic statistics showing how gaming is for everyone.
During Asus’ press event today, the gaming giant hit on the ROG Boost feature found in many of its ROG laptops. The feature, which is easy to toggle on and off, pushes the internals of a compatible machine to drive a slight bump in performance.
Asus gave an example using the ROG Zephyrus S GX701. With ROG Boost, the GPU is overclocked from 80 Watts to 100 Watts. This grants a 12% bump in performance in the 3DMark Port Royal benchmark. Additionally, the overclock pushes frame rates up by 7-8% in games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Overwatch, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
While these performance gains are small, they require little effort on behalf of the user thanks to ROG Boost.
Asus also shared interesting statistics during the event. Citing a study by Newzoo, a data analytics company focused on the gaming market, Asus pointed out that gaming is for everyone. Per that study, almost half of all gamers (46%, to be exact) are women. In fact, in the 51-65 age segment, more women than men game (8% vs. 7%). Whether on smartphones, consoles, or PCs, games are a fun way for anyone to pass the time.
