LG Folder 2 Android flip phone with dual displays goes official

The South Korean brand, LG launched a flip phone aptly called the LG Folder in March 2018 with features like 3-inch IPS LCD display, Android 6 Marshmallow, 5MP camera, dedicated FM radio button and more. The phone was intended for budget buyers, who wanted an easy-to-use phone. Two years later, the brand has now launched the successor to the Folder, aptly named as the LG Folder 2. The new phone comes with several upgrades over its predecessors like a secondary display, SOS Key and 4G support. Here’s everything you need to know about the newest affordable Android flip phone from the South Korean brand.

The LG Folder 2 comes fitted with 2.8-inch QVGA LCD primary display with 320 x 240 pixels screen resolution. There is another 0.9-inch mono display on the front for notifications and displaying information like time. Powering the performance is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor with an Adreno 304 GPU. The chipset is further backed by 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory. The onboard storage can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. In the imaging department, there’s a 2MP camera that is located above the mono screen on the front. The phone runs on an unspecified Android version and is powered by a 1,470mAh battery. The connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS.

The highlight of LG Folder 2 is the dedicated SOS Key on the back, which can be assigned a pre-registered number. Users will need to press the button three times quickly within 1.5 seconds and the phone will call the number assigned. There’s also a hotkey above the call button, which activated AI voice service or start the call recording function. However, the feature assigned to the hotkey will vary from carrier to carrier. LG has also equipped the phone with data security lock feature, which prevents unwanted data charges.

LG Folder 2 price and availability

LG is offering the Folder 2 in two colour variants – White and New Platinum Grey. The phone priced at KRW1,98,000, which is roughly Rs 12.425. It will go on sale in South Korea starting April 17th. The handset is unlikely to launch outside its home country.
