Realme Watch with Model Number RMA161 Receives IMDA Certification

It is well known that OPPO’s popular sub-brand Realme is working on a new smartwatch called the Realme Smartwatch. In fact, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth was recently seen flaunting this upcoming watch in a video featuring him indicating an imminent launch in the next few weeks. Today, we have received yet another indication that points towards the possibility of Realme officially announcing this smartwatch soon. In fact, we now believe we should be getting all key details about this gadget in the next few weeks.
The Realme Smartwatch has officially received Indonesia’s IMDA certification, which is mandatory for all electronic items sold in that country. In case you were not aware, IMDA is the Indonesian equivalent of India’s BIS certification — which is mandatory before any electronic item is officially sold in our country.

Per the IMDA certification document, the Realme Watch appears to have the model number RMA161. This matches an older model number that folks over at 91Mobiles had unearthed over a month ago on the BIS website. This indicates that the Realme Watch has already passed all necessary certifications for its India launch. In fact, we are led to believe that the company has temporarily stalled all launches due to the ongoing Coronavirus scare and the associated pan-India lockdown.

Details about the Realme Smartwatch — particularly its hardware specs remain under wraps for the time being. However, it is expected that the product will be positioned well below OPPO’s other smartwatch — the OPPO Watch that was also recently announced and could be launched in India soon. As for the Realme Smartwatch, it is likely to compete against the Mi Watch — a product that Xiaomi is yet to officially announce for the Indian market. It remains to be seen if Realme beats Xiaomi to announce a smartwatch for India. The companies already compete in the smartphones and smart band segments in the country.
